American Thriller is an unraced daughter of the Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, who is also off to a strong start at stud with the likes of G1 winners As Time Goes By, American Theorem, Above the Curve and Cafe Pharoah to his credit out of his first few crops.
She is the first named foal out of the stakes winner and three-time graded stakes-placed Thrilled, by Uncle Mo, and is followed by a 2020 full-sister named Indian Wells, a 2021 half-sister by Justify, and a 2022 full-sister by American Pharoah. Her dam was bred back to Munnings for 2024.
Thrilled is a full-sister to the graded-placed 3YO of 2022 Beside Herself, both of them out of the G3 winner Excited (by Giant’s Causeway), who is a full-sister to the stakes winner Wait Til Dawn out of the stakes winner Path of Thunder (a full-sister to G1 BC Distaff winner Spain). Excited also has a 2021 colt by Uncle Mo and a 2022 colt by Munnings in the pipeline, and was bred to Uncle Mo again for 2024.
Wasabi acquired American Thriller for $52,000 at the 2022 Keeneland November Sale as a broodmare prospect. She is currently carrying her first foal, by the veteran leading sire Candy Ride, and she will be bred back to Maclean’s Music in 2024.
