Brazen Persuasion was a wickedly fast, Graded Stakes-winning 2YO who triumphed in the historic Schuylerville Stakes-G3 at Saratoga during a successful racing career. As a broodmare, her first five foals have all raced and all five are winners, including a pair that have each earned more than $200k. Her ’22 foal was a $300k juvenile in-training purchase, now named Good Game, who is nearing her debut for trainer Rodolphe Brisset. She has a ’24 filly by Jackie’s Warrior, also, and is pregnant to Liam’s Map (believed to be carrying a colt) for ’25 on a March 4th cover.
Brazen Persuasion is by the brilliant Grade 1 winner Indian Charlie, whose daughters have already produced the likes of Horse of the Year Flightline, Eclipse Champion and leading young sire Mitole. In total, he is the broodmare sire of more than 100 black-type winners. Brazen Persuasion’s dam has produced ten runners among her 13 foals, nine of which are winners — and she has produced two additional black-type winners, namely Thankful (by American Pharoah) and Behold de Buy (by E Dubai). Second dam, Godmother, was a Grade 3 winner and half to four black-type winners, including a Grade 3 winner.
A big, strong mare much in the mold of her sire, Brazen Persuasion’s foals have been popular at the yearling sales — in addition to that $300k 2YO (which was a $125k yearling purchase prior to that), her other foals have brought $650k at 2YO (after being a $225k yearling), $225k as a yearling, $180k as a yearling, and $170k as a 2YO (after being a $110k yearling). And in fact, Brazen Persuasion herself brought $700k while carrying her first foal once upon a time.
But we acquired Brazen Persuasion on behalf of CJT Stables, LLC, at the ’24 Keeneland November Sale for just $62,000 carrying that aforementioned colt by Liam’s Map (a $40k stud fee), and her foals from hereon will be raced by their breeder. And we have high hopes for this Liam’s Map colt once she delivers it in New York this spring — although its full-sibling (Brazen Persuasion’s ’21 foal) was her least expensive yearling purchase and has not raced, Liam’s Map is having a very good year on the track thanks to the likes of Roses For Debra and Deterministic, and he is from the same Fappiano sire-line as Candy Ride and Gun Runner, who sired Brazen Persuasion’s two most successful runners to date. Plus, Liam’s Map has had success with Indian Charlie mares: from 14 runners on that specific cross, he has ten winners and four black-type winners, including Grade 2 winner Crazy Beautiful and the good New York-bred Dr. Ardito!
