A 2YO maiden special weight winner for the powerful Godolphin stable, Ebb Tide was acquired on behalf of Wasabi Ventures Stables for $14,000 at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Mixed Sale as a broodmare prospect, and will join their Mid-Atlantic-based broodmare band.
Ebb Tide is sired by the multiple G1W and leading sire Medaglia d’Oro, whose other daughters include the likes of Songbird, Rachel Alexandra, Elate, Wonder Gadot, Plum Pretty, New Money Honey, etc. In fact, Rachel Alexandra, Songbird, Elate and New Money Honey are all bred on the same MDO/Forty Niner nick as Ebb Tide (and the latter two are both on the exact MDO/Distorted Humor cross). As a broodmare sire, MDO has accounted for G1Ws like Olympiad, Santin, Rock Fall, Rachel’s Valentina and Arrest Me Red.
On her dam’s side, Ebb Tide comes from the family of multiple G1W and leading young stallion Constitution — in fact, Ebb Tide’s dam Magdalena Bay is a full-sister to Constitution’s dam Baffled (who has also produced G2W Boynton and G3W Jacaranda). Magdalena Bay is also full to G2W Surfer, and a half to G1W Emcee, SW Spring Party (dam of G3W Marzo, by MDO and thus closely related to Ebb Tide), and to the stakes producers Gabeira (dam of SW Erase and black-type placed Doc Amster) and Wipe Out (dam of G1PW Degree of Risk). Magdalena Bay has fillies by Cairo Prince and Frosted still to come for Godolphin, and was purchased by KatieRich Farm in foal to Cairo Prince for 2023. Ebb Tide’s half-sister Beach Time is a member of Robert Evans’s broodmare band with fillies by Enticed and Vino Rosso to come for her.
Ebb Tide will be bred for the first time in 2023, to the G1W and leading freshman sire Dialed In at Darby Dan.
