Group Text was a $60,000 yearling purchase by trainer John Servis — a price which made her the most expensive of 19 by her highly proven sire Include to sell in 2017 — who became a maiden special weight winner first time out at 2YO going 5-1/2 furlongs, then finished 3rd to eventual Eclipse Champion Jaywalk in the White Clay Creek Stakes in her second start. An “a other than” allowance winner at 6 furlongs next time out, she added four more victories over the next two seasons between 5-1/2 and 6-1/2 furlongs. She retired with a career record of (18) 7-2-2, $132,361.
Group Text is by the Maryland-bred Grade 1 winner Include, whose credentials as a runner and sire are fantastic. In the breeding shed, Include has a reputation as a bit of a “filly sire,” as the females Panty Raid, Include Me Out, Include Betty, Her Smile, and Cash Included account for his North American Grade 1 victories. And as a broodmare sire, he’s responsible for the likes of graded winners Proxy, Sam’s Sister, Micheline, Pink Sands, Amalfi Coast, Gunmetal Grey, etc.
Group Text’s dam, Kiki Chacer, won three races during her own racetrack career before dying early after producing just three foals, all of whom are winners. She was sired by the Grade 1-winning 2YO Stormello, and is a half-sister to the multiple stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Conchacer, the both of them out of stakes winner Eliot Chacer, herself a half-sister to the stakes winner Lord Beer.
So Group Text’s pedigree represents a nice blend of classic stamina over precocity and speed, which leaves plenty of options open for her during her breeding career — especially since her medium-sized, correct physical will suit a wide range of stallions as well.
Group Text delivered her first foal in 2022, a colt by Gift Box (the product of a Housatonic Recommended Mating that you can read about here), and a colt in 2023 by leading young Maryland stallion Blofeld. She heads back to Blofeld again in 2023 for a repeat mating.
