We recommended the purchase of the young Godolphin-bred broodmare Floral Hall out of the recent Keeneland November Sale, and one of the things that we liked best about her was that the first foal she’s currently carrying will be sired by the romping G1 Met Mile winner Frosted. Due in February, this foal will be bred on the successful Frosted/Fappiano cross, which has resulted in two of Frosted’s graded stakes winners so far (Travel Column is out of a mare by Cryptoclearance’s son Victory Gallop, Frosted Over is out of a mare by Cryptoclearance’s grandson Candy Ride) — and TrueNicks rates this matchup an “A++”, though they call it Tapit/Empire Maker.
More importantly for our purposes, however, is the fact that another of Frosted’s stakes winners, the versatile Cave Hill, is actually a half-brother to Floral Hall. Not only that, but Floral Hall is also a half-sister to G2 winner Skylighter, by Sky Mesa (a son of Pulpit as is Frosted’s sire Tapit), and to the dam of G3-placed stakes winner Meru, who is also by Sky Mesa, while under the next dam is a multiple G3-placed runner by Pulpit himself. So this female family has demonstrated repeatedly that it loves the Pulpit sire-line, and has already worked with Frosted specifically.
In addition to this foal being a 3/4-sibling to stakes winner Cave Hill, it will be the product of a thoughtful match on physical, as well. Both Frosted and Floral Hall are very attractive horses of medium size with plenty of length to them, and we expect that Frosted will add some bone and substance to this foal from the more feminine Floral Hall.
