(2020 dark bay/brown mare by Blame out of Gibbet, by War Front)
Queen Ann is an unraced daughter of Eclipse Champion, Grade 1 sire, and leading young broodmare sire Blame, whose daughters have already produced Eclipse Champion Forte, plus other Graded Stakes Winners One Timer, Sacred and Danse Macabre, plus the Grade 1-placed young stallion Loggins and exciting Australian juvenile of ’24 Switzerland.
Queen Ann, who sold for $100,000 as a yearling, is the first foal out of Gibbet, by War Front. Gibbet was bred and raced by Claiborne Farm & Adele Dilschneider, and finished 2nd in three maiden special weights from four starts. Her subsequent foals include the ’21 colt Knicks Gate (by Arrogate), a ’22 colt by Volatile who was a $110,000 yearling, and a ’23 Liam’s Map filly. Gibbet was bred to Practical Joke for ’24.
Gibbet is a daughter of the stakes-winning 2YO Cross, by Mighty, who is also the dam of a pair of Graded Stakes-Winning 2YOs in Sign (by Pulpit) and Vexed (by Arch, the sire of Blame), along with the six-figure earner Cite (by Blame), and additional winners Thwart and Blend.
Cross, in turn, is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Lattice (by Arch). Queen Ann’s 4th dam, Northabout, is a half-sister to multiple Eclipse Champion Slew o’ Gold and to Belmont Stakes-G1 winner Coastal, while another branch of the female family descending from Northabout has produced the multiple Grade 1 winner Real Solution.
Queen Ann was acquired by Wasabi in February ’24, and will be bred for the first time this spring.
