Raggedy is a 3YO daughter of the classic winner and top class sire Union Rags, from an incredible Lane’s End female family.
Her dam, the unraced Secret Ballot, has already produced the stakes-placed, eight-time winner Savoy, who was a $160,000 yearling purchase, while other of Raggedy’s siblings have sold for $475,000 and $485,000 (the latter is the 2023 2YO Secret Society, by Arrogate, purchased by “the Avengers” group and headed to the barn of Bob Baffert). Raggedy herself was a $230,000 yearling purchase. Secret Ballot has a 2022 colt from the first crop of Game Winner, and a 2023 filly by Catalina Cruiser in the pipeline.
Raggedy’s second dam is the stakes winner Private Status (by Alydar), a half-sister to Chilean G1 winners Maria Candela and Miss Brio. Private Status is the dam of G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Secret Status (in turn the dam of G1 Belmont Stakes place-getter Dunkirk, and ancestress of G1 winner Fair Maiden), G3 winner and sire Alumni Hall, stakes winner Private Gift (in turn the dam of G2 winner Private Mission, stakes winner Secret Someone, and granddam of G1 winner Dunbar Road), stakes-placed State Treasure, and stakes producer Royal Box.
Wasabi acquired Raggedy for $47,000 at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton July HORA Sale as a broodmare prospect after she had previously placed in a Tampa maiden special weight. She will be mated for the first time in 2024, to Army Mule.
