Doesn’thurttoflirt

by

(2021 chestnut mare by Include out of I’m Engaged, by Broken Vow)

We have raced Doesn’thurttoflirt as a homebred in partnership with Oh Happy Days Stable, Steve Crabtree, and Kelly Rubley’s KMR Racing Stable.  She broke her maiden by a dozen lengths in her 2YO finale going 1-1/16 miles on dirt at Laurel in her 4th start, then made it two-in-a-row with a late-running victory by a head over older mares in her first start at 3, going 7-1/2 furlongs on turf at the Fair Grounds.  She scored a starter optional win at the Fair Grounds back against straight 3YOs going a mile on the grass.  Campaigned across the Mid-Atlantic during that summer, she ran into some tough fields and had some bad luck while always giving a good account of herself, including when becoming our first black-type starter in Delaware Park’s Christiana Stakes.

After a freshening, Doesn’thurttoflirt scored her fourth career victory in a Maryland-bred allowance in her 4YO debut at Laurel on May 24, 2025, taking her lifetime earnings over $100k, and was subsequently 2nd in a $90k allowance race at Colonial in July.  She concluded her 4YO season with a troubled 3rd-place finish in an open company “an other than” at Laurel in November.  After a winter vacation, she hit the board during her 5YO campaign in 2026 (having switched from the barn of trainer Kelly Rubley to that of Mike Stidham for this year).

Doesn’thurttoflirt currently has those four wins in 26 career starts, with earnings of $141,600, and a highest Beyer Speed Figure of 79.  We’re looking to run her probably once more before the end of the season.

She is a half-sister to five other winners (Postnup, A Ring Thing, Big Stick, Work For Peace and I’m With Miller), all of them out of our first ever broodmare purchase, I’m Engaged, who was herself a half to G2W Fiery Pursuit and whose dam was a half to Eclipse Champion Flanders (in turn the dam of Eclipse Champion Surfside).  You can read about the Housatonic Recommended Mating that produced Doesn’thurttoflirt here, and you can find more photos of her here.

I’m Engaged passed away in 2026, so it is fitting that Doesn’thurttoflirt will replace her in our broodmare band beginning in 2027.
